The Baby Drop Box

The Dropbox film

Have you heard about The Drop Box?  Pastor Lee Jong-rak is a modern day George Muller. His congregation is living out the gospel.

When I heard about Jong-rak’s selfless efforts to rescue abandoned babies and his sincere love of each one of them, I remembered some church history. Early Christians were known among their unbelieving neighbors for picking up and raising abandoned babies as their own (up to 40% of Roman babies were abandoned). Christian wet nurses would care for each child until other members of the congregation could adopt them! Within a few generations, the entire Roman Empire made Christianity the official religion. Could that conversion be evidence of their influence?

Servant living doesn’t only save lives, it sways the souls of onlookers. Plus no indulgent lifestyle can satisfy us more than generosity can. Loving the least of these has trifold benefits. Watch the Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO) Summit this May. There are so many opportunities for us to carry out God’s promise to put the lonely in families whether it be by funding adoptions, serving an adopting family, raising awareness about the orphan care crisis, fostering, mentoring or adopting.

The number of Christians today outnumber orphans 7 to 1. If one family from every church rescues an orphan, the world will notice and their inspiration will lead them to Christ.

  1. That’s a beautiful video. It’s so sad that so many couples desperately want children and others drop their baby in a box like postage to be rid of. Children are such precious gifts.
