April 30-May 1, I’ll be at the 11th annual Christian Alliance for Orphans Summit in Nashville, Tennessee!
CAFO is for anyone who cares about orphans. Whether you are drawn to adoption, foster care, mentorship, nonprofit work, policy, Orphan Sunday, church ministry, family support or awareness, you will laud the summit. Check out the list of workshops.
Christianity Today called the summit “the national hub for the burgeoning Christian orphan care movement.” What a beautiful sentence!
Burgeoning to grow or increase rapidly, to flourish
Christian a believer in Jesus Christ and his teachings
Orphan a child lacking parental care and has not been adopted
Care the provision of what is necessary for the health, welfare and protection of someone
Movement a group of people working together to advance their shared ideas
Guys, there’s a rapidly increasing Christ-centered advancement of provision for lonely children. That is awesome!
I have streamed sessions online every year since 2012, but didn’t dream I’d actually go. My husband offered to drive me to Nashville and keep both kids for two days’ while I attend. What a man. If you are going too, please let me know. If not, I will tell you highlights from what I learn. And stream it!
Workshops will not be streamed, but general sessions will and they are amazing. Watch while you do dishes or listen while you drive. Mark your calendar for the weekend of May 1. If you follow my Facebook page, I’ll remind you.
Here’s a taste of the summit from David Platt’s closing words from Summit 2014. “Adoption is not second best [to biological]; adoption is just as best.”
